Exploring in depth any thread technique since childhood I have become a professional
(hand) embroiderer and lacemaker specialized in traditional costumes and headdresses from Brittany.
I give embroidery courses and workshops.
I passed C&G embroidery part 1 in 1998 and I am preparing C&G part 2 with Gloscat -tutor Lynn Griffiths.
I have an artist's endevour and I make graphic studies with two painters who have an interest in textile too.
I am a member of IFA, Embroiderers' Guild and in France of an artists association "Fils et Métiers". For some years now I have taken part in the exhibitions they organise.
I discovered handmade felt in 1997, and since it has taken a growing place in my life.
It gives me a sense of autonomy and control. You come in the story from the start: fleece. It is simple, immediate and versatile. There seems to have no limits to it except me and lack of time. I can envisage at last to think large and cover walls with panels, this is not out of reach anymore.
I first used it complementary to embroidery -working with rough fleece from local sheep- to feel more IN my work and to obtain an uneven, textured and coloured ground.
Lately my lacemaker part spoke out and I turn my interest towards merino combined with silk threads and nets for a gossamer result, see-through effects and cast shadow.
These days, I am a step nearer lace, light and fragile : I spin the merino fleece with a silk thread, knot a net and felt it: I hope I shall heva time to finish the pieces I am working on and send them for this exhibition.
I felt in my kitchen, by night, when time and family life haven't anymore meaning. Then I can let me feel like a child: open, curious, adventurous even, enthousiastic: "What happens if...?".
